Whether you are moving into a freshly built home or are trying to give your existing place a bit of a touch up, there’s nothing as easy as painting! A fresh coat of paint on the walls can really bring a room to life. Painting is not just for rooms and walls, though. There are a ton of different items in and around your home that can benefit from a coat of paint. From the walls to the furniture and items in between, painting can really bring your home to life. 

When you think of painting, you probably imagine a huge mess with more of it going on you than the walls. Well, painting can be messy, if you are not careful, but it can also be the least expensive way to make a dramatic improvement in the way your home looks. You can completely change the appearance of a room or piece of furniture by simply applying a fresh coat of paint. 

If you are in the mood for a change in your home’s appearance, then you should consider repainting some of the walls. A home with the look of crisp white walls and ceilings can sometimes leave you feeling a bit bored and emotionless. On the other hand, those of you that have moved into a home with black walls may need just that to feel a bit more comfortable in your surroundings! 

It is very simple to paint a room. As long as you keep plenty of tarps laid down to protect the floors and you tape off the trim work, you should have no problems keeping things nice and clean. Of course, if you already have rooms full of furniture, just move it all to the center of the room and cover it with plastic or painting tarps. That way, you won’t get any paint on the items. 

If your project is to paint furniture, you will want to put a little thought into whether or not you want to paint or stain. In most cases, if you are dealing with a beautiful wood, you will want to stain. You can easily do this yourself by choosing a gel stain from your local hardware store. Follow the instructions on the can of stain and before you know it, you will create a beautiful piece of work! 

Whether you want to paint your home’s interior or exterior, you will want to carefully consider the way you want it to turn out before you purchase your materials. Do you want to paint your deck or just seal it from the elements? Do you want your front porch swing to match your shutters? Is it important that your child’s bed be the same color as the intricate designs in the wallpaper? Make sure that you choose carefully because once the paint it on, it takes a little more effort to change or remove it! 

Pick out the paint that you feel is the best choice for your project.  Would you prefer a finish that is satin or would it be best to choose eggshell? Once you decide on the paint, then next thing is to get yourself some paintbrushes, a paint tray and wear some old clothes. (You are bound to get some on yourself at some point!) 

Painting is not difficult. It may take a bit of your time and resources, but is well worth it. If you don’t want to do it yourself, you can always hire a professional. Whatever you decide, you will be happy with the results. There is nothing like the look of a freshly painted room or piece of furniture.
